I’m Sarah, and I’m here to get you thinking about money not just in the dollar and cents sense (haha, get it?), but the psychology behind our spending behaviors.
You know you should save more, spend less and all that, but why aren’t you following some of the great advice out there? Or you know you should invest some of your heard earned money, but are too scared to even open an investment account?
It really boils down to how we feel about money. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true. If you’ve been taught that investment is meant to be confusing and you need to learn a lot of crazy technical jargon, then that belief is going to lead you to never spend a dime on any type of investment. Or if you’re stressed and trying to run away from certain problems, then that stress will mostly likely manifest in your spending habits.
In the end, money is a tool. But we still attach feelings and beliefs towards money. So to figure out and better our financial situation, then we need to change those feelings and beliefs.
We have the power within us to live productive, happy and successful lives, in whatever way that makes sense for us. And to do that, we need to use money in a productive way.
So how can we do that? By diving into the ins and outs of our behavior surrounding money. Not only that, but you need to be compassionate to yourself when working towards financial health. That means figuring out what we do what we do and taking small steps to push us towards better decisions. (psst…interested in my money story? This blog will teach you how think more deeply about the behaviors driving your need to spend, save, or squander your money. And that includes implementing tools and systems to make money your friend, or as I like to call it, “high fiving those dollars”.
I don’t claim to be an expert, nor am I finance professional. But what I can offer you is my 100% honesty, and the knowledge that whatever I write here I’ve done myself. I figure if it works for me, it might work for other people too.
